While I am enrolled in “Introduction to Plant Science” at the New York Botanical Garden... I have been making some more detailed plant observations. This includes writing daily as well as taking some photographs. And this is a particularly colorful time of year to be looking closely at the flora.
Certainly I have a long way to go in learning to identify even a tiny fraction of what I see. And if you can offer some of your two-cents, I look forward to becoming more enlightened.

Yeah, it’s free admission on most weekdays through the winter!
There is a lot going on with plants during the cold months.

Seems the black locusts do not dropping their seed pods so prodigiously as the honeys.

And what was still hanging on to a stem. It was a colorful day, as usual.

Leaves that grow in the shade can be larger and broader than those that grow in full sun of the canopy (sun leaves), which can be smaller and more deeply lobed.
Perhaps we have an eastern white oak here (Quercus alba), and a chestnut oak (Quercus montana).

The strawberry in a false fruit, which is derived from the peg that holds the ovaries.
